Crown Wedge Tool

The Crown Wedge tool is made from 1/2" diameter HSS bar, the tip of which is ground at an angle. A small bevel has been ground around the front edge to provide a wonderfully smooth cutting tool. When used on spindle work, it cuts well-defined coves with an ease that normal spindle gouges would find difficult. Used for cutting 'on the wrong side' for such jobs as mushroom caps or undercutting the rims of bowls it possesses an inherent safety that imparts itself to the user, increasing confidence. It can be used to hollow goblets or refine the inside of a bowl after the gouge. The tool's versatility is without question as it tends to cut the wood rather than scraping it and, because of its mass and design, tends not to kick back making it a pleasure to use. 8.1/2" Handle.
