Now this really is a super machine and one which has been very well received since its introduction. Two cast iron tables with an extruded aluminium fence on an ABS base make up the major components of the machine. The fence, which is 110mm deep, is exceptionally rigid and can be adjusted for both position across the table and for angle. The 90° and 45° positions are provided with stops which, once adjusted, allow for rapid re-setting between the two positions. The blade guard, which is made from a rigid aluminium extrusion, is well supported on a swinging arm and can be re-positioned across the table so that no part of the non cutting part of the block is exposed. The maximum planing width is 150mm and the two re-sharpenable high speed steel knives, which are very easy to set, produce an exceptionally clean and smooth finish. Depth of cut is set simply by winding the infeed table control knob situated just underneath the table. Although there is no thicknessing attachment to go with this machine, there is a choice of independent thicknessers detailed elsewhere in this section. As always, we thoroughly recommend the use of a dust extractor with a machine of this type and in this case the Axminster WV100 would be a good choice. Connection is via a 58mm outlet on the back of the machine.
