Specially designed to give a massive grip, particularly on large diameter parallel pieces. The type G gripper jaws have a large dovetail on the outside for turning large platters and bowls and a serrated grip on the inside specially designed to hold large hollow forms and end grain pieces.

"Having tried various ways of gripping large end grain, I have to say these jaws are excellent. They hold the wood tight and even when you abuse the end grain with impatience and brute force...they will still grip.
( not that I do that of course but i wanted to see what the jaws would take ). I have recently aquired a non Axminster "lever type" chuck with some medium gripper jaws. Superb I thought, I can do some smaller end grain work. Not a chance. They cant grip anything. As soon as you begin to cut into the end grain , the wood moves and as we know its all over !!
Asa result I will be purchasing some medium gripper jaws from Axminster in the near future. (when funds dictate) The sooner the better. The no Axminster lever type chuck is now in my bottom draw gathereing dust.
