Why should I register with axminster.co.uk?

Registering with axminster.co.uk will let us offer you an easy yet superior shopping experience. With your online account set up, you can save product comparisons and shopping baskets for future reference and quicker ordering for regular orders. Your account details are also stored so you will not need to enter your billing and address details each time you want to place an order. Additional addresses can be added to your address book and your online order history will also be available via your account pages. You can also subscribe to our Email Club to receive regular product offers via email. You will need an online account with us to be able to place orders.

My email address/password is not being recognised by the Sign In page, even though I have bought from Axminster before – why is this?

Check you have typed your email address/password correctly and try again. Please note: passwords are not case sensitive.
Have you registered with us on this website? If not, you will need to register an online account with us to be able to place orders and have access to full account features via the website. This applies to both new customers and existing Axminster customers that have not yet registered on this website (launched 28 September 2004). To register at any time, click the Sign In/Register link at the top right of any page. For more information on how to register an account, please see the Registration and Signing In to Your Account help section.

Can I have my order delivered to an address that is different to my billing address?

Yes - simply sign in to your account and choose Edit My Address Book, from here you can add as many additional delivery addresses as required. Alternatively a new delivery address can be added when going through the Checkout procedure.

I need to delete an old address from my Address Book, where is this option?

Sign in to your account and choose Edit My Address Book. Locate the address you wish to remove and press the Delete button - the page will refresh and you will be asked to confirm the deletion. Either click Delete to remove the address or the previous page button to return to your address book without deleting. Please note: you can only edit your existing card billing address.

I've been adding products to my basket, I've just signed into my account and extra products have now been added - where have they come from?

These products have been added to your basket because they were there last time you were signed in to your account while visiting axminster.co.uk. If you do not wish to order these products, go to Your Basket and Remove them. If you don't want your basket saved after you sign out of your account in future, simply empty your basket before signing out.

I've got to the delivery address or payment stage of the checkout process but I need to change my basket, can I?

At any stage during the order process and before clicking the final Order Now button, you can edit the contents of your basket. By clicking the Basket link below the current page title you can return to your basket and make modifications.
To delete a product from your basket, click the Remove link to the left of the specific product image (the basket is refreshed automatically). To edit a quantity, either use the up/down arrows or type a value in to the quantity column and click the Update Quantities below to refresh the basket with your changes applied. You will need to click Proceed to Checkout again, select a delivery address and enter payment details before completing the order.

Can I order products that state 'Currently Out of Stock'?

All out of stock products are available to order via the website, you will only be charged for these items when they are in stock and have been dispatched to you. If you order other in stock items on the same order, they will be dispatched as normal and you will be charged for these - we do not hold orders until every item becomes available. You can contact our Customer Services team directly to receive an indication of when we are expecting stock of an item.

I'm still waiting for my order, with reference WEBXXXXXX, where is it?

Please check the Customer Services area for full delivery information - including the range of delivery time options. If you think your order is overdue, please contact our Customer Services team.

I've just received delivery of my order but items are missing/incorrect/damaged/faulty. What do I do next?

In all cases, you will need to contact our Customer Services team, you can see details of our Returns Policy in the Customer Services area.

I've ordered the incorrect item(s), what can I do?

Please check our Returns Policy in the Customer Services area for details on returning unwanted items - before returning any product our Customer Services team must be contacted.


Registration and Signing in to my Account

Why do I need to register with axminster.co.uk?

Registering with axminster.co.uk will let us offer you an easy yet superior shopping experience. With your online account set up, you can save product comparisons and shopping baskets for future reference and quicker ordering for regular orders. Your account details are also stored so you will not need to enter your billing and address details each time you want to place an order. Additional addresses can be added to your address book and your online order history will also be available via your account pages. You can also subscribe to our Email Club to receive regular product offers via email.
You will need an online account with us to be able to place orders. This applies to both new customers and existing Axminster customers that have not yet registered on this (new) website (launched 28 September 2004). To register at any time, click the Sign In/Register link at the top right of any page.

How do I register using the Sign In/Register page?

There are two methods of registration - which of the following best describes you, A or B?

A - I have previously purchased from Axminster (via phone or the Internet) and have a Customer Number but haven't registered on this new website (launched 28 September 2004).
B - This will be my first purchase with Axminster.

A - Use the New Customers, Register Here option:
1 Enter your Email Address and tick the box below if you would like to join our Email Club newsletter (you'll receive regular offers and news of the latest products to your inbox). You can change your Email Club subscription options when you are registered.
2 Enter your Postcode and select your Country (United Kingdom will be selected by default) followed by your House No./Name.
3 Finally enter your Customer Number (this can be found on your previous order invoices) and click Create Account.
4 The page will refresh and your Personal Information will be displayed. Check your name, address and phone details - at this stage, you also have the option to tell us where you heard about us.
5 Create and confirm your password (between 6 and 50 characters) and click the Register button.
6 You will be taken to your account page providing you with your name, address and customer number details and various account editing options (see the Editing My Account help section for more information). You will also receive an automated email confirming your registration with axminster.co.uk.

You have successfully registered with axminster.co.uk!

B - Use the New Customers, Register Here option:
1 Enter your Email Address and tick the box below if you would like to join our Email Club newsletter (you'll receive regular offers and news of the latest products to your inbox). You can change your Email Club subscription options when you are registered.
2 Enter your Postcode and select your Country (United Kingdom will be seleceted by default) followed by your House No./Name and click Create Account.
3 The page will refresh, you will now need to enter your Personal Information (title/firstname/surname/phone number are mandatory) and at this stage, you also have the option to tell us where you heard about us. Your address details will have been automatically completed (if not, enter them now) - check your address details before proceeding.
4 Create and confirm your password (between 6 and 50 characters) and click the Register button.
5 You will be taken to your account page providing you with your name, address and customer number details and various account editing options (see the Editing My Account help section for more information). You will also receive an automated email confirming your registration with axminster.co.uk.

You have successfully registered with axminster.co.uk!

How do I sign in to my account?

Click the Sign In/Register link at the top right of any axminster.co.uk page and enter your registered email address and password in the Existing Customers, Sign In Here box and click Sign-in. The page will refresh and you will be taken to your account page.

I tried to Sign In but I receive a 'password provided was incorrect' error message, why?

Try typing your password in again - passwords are not case sensitive but must be identical to the password you created when registering. If your web browser is auto-completing the password field, it may be remembering an incorrect password from a previous visit. Delete the auto-completed text and re-type your password in full.

I've forgotten my password, what do I do next?

If you have forgotten you password completely, click the Forgotten Password? link below the Sign-in button on the Sign In/Register page. You will be prompted to enter your email address that you registered with. Clicking the Send Me Link button will send you an email to that email address. When you have received this email from us, simply follow the instructions to reset your password.

I tried to Sign In but I receive a 'email address and password you entered did not match any online accounts in our file' error message, why?

Check your email address and password for typing mistakes - they must match exactly those you used to register with us - and try again. If your web browser is auto-completing either the email address or password field, it may be remembering incorrect spelling from a previous visit. Delete the auto-completed text and re-type your password in full.
If this doesn't solve the problem, have you registered an online account with us? Both new and existing customers (if you haven't registered since 28/9/04) need to register on the Axminster website. Please check the Registration and signing in to my account help section for more information.

How do I know if I'm signed in to my account?

When you are signed in, at the top right of any axminster.co.uk page, the options Your Account and Sign Out will be displayed next to the shopping basket icon. If you are not signed in, the Sign In/Register link will be displayed.


Editing my Account

How do I edit my account options?

When you are signed in to your account, you can click the Your Account link at the top right of any axminster.co.uk page to return to your account page. From this page you can update your account by clicking: Edit My Details, View Your Saved Baskets, View Previous Orders, Edit My Address Book or Logout.

Edit My Details
Change your title, position, company name, firstname, surname, email address, Email Club membership preferences and password. To apply any changes, you will need to enter your current password and click the Update button.

View Your Saved Baskets
Click this option to view any saved baskets you have. Please see the How do I save a basket? help section for more details.

View Previous Orders
Your previous online orders will be displayed here.

Edit My Address Book
You can view, edit, add and delete addresses in your address book.

Editing an existing address
If you need to edit an existing address, simply click on the Edit button below an address and edit the details as required. Click the Update button to apply the changes.

Adding a new address
1 Click the Add New Address button and enter the new details including a general reference name in the 'Who' field (e.g Home, Work). Click OK, Continue…
2 The remainder of your address details will be completed automatically, check these for any errors and amend if required. Click the Add New Address button to add it to your Address Book.

Deleting an address
If you no longer require an address in your Address Book simply click the Delete button below the address. The page will refresh and ask you to confirm the deletion - you can choose Previous Page to return without deleting the address or Delete to confirm.

Logout
Clicking Logout will sign you out of your account (recommended if you are using public, company or other shared computers). On your return visit you will need to use the Sign In/Register link and enter your email address and password to log back in to your account.


Browsing for Products

How do I find products?

1.1 The menu structure, which follows our printed catalogue as closely as possible, can be found to the left hand side of any axminster.co.uk page. Clicking these menus will take you to specific categories, provide sub-category options and products.

OR

1.2 The basic search facility can be found at the top of every axminster.co.uk page. By default, the search box prompts you to 'enter keyword or code'. Enter your keywords or product codes (found in our catalogue, supplements and adverts etc) and click Go Find. Search results are displayed in three parts: the catalogue categories (left column) that your search terms exist within, the single products (main column) and the manufacturers of the products (below main column). Clicking the Advanced Search link (in the main menu next to the basic search box or in the Quick Links menu box) will allow you to refine your searches by price and manufacturer in addition to product names/codes.

OR

1.3 The Quick Links menu (found under the main catalogue sections menu) contains links to our current Special Offer and New Products sections for featured products.

How do I find detailed product information?

Clicking a product thumbnail (either via browsing through the catalogue sections or a search result) will provide you with product features, description, specification and review tabs as well as an image (which can be enlarged by clicking Enlarge Image). Order codes, pricing and other products in the same category are found below. To print a copy or to bookmark the page use the links at the bottom left of the page.
You also have the option to move back into the specific catalogue sections the product exists in under the View Other Products In options.
Note: Due to the nature of some products, they will not all feature a specification.

I would like to view product prices with/without VAT, is there this option?

On every axminster.co.uk page, under the main Browse Categories, Quick Links and This Page menus, there are the Show Pricing options, from here you can select either including VAT or excluding VAT. The page will refresh and prices will be displayed in your choice until options are changed again.

Can I email product information directly to someone else?

There is an Email a Friend option that can be found under the This Page options on each page. Clicking this will prompt you for email addresses in the To and From fields as well as a message for your recipient.

Can I compare products?

You can compare up to 4 products at any one time. However, due to the nature of some products, they will not all feature comparison options.
1 When you are on a product page, there will be two choices below the description/price box - Add this to comparison and Compare Section.
1.1 Add this to comparison will add this single product to the comparison and take you to the Product Comparison page (see 2 below).

OR

1.2 Compare Section will take you to a listing of all products in the specific section where you should select up to 4 products by ticking the boxes and clicking the Compare button. You will then be taken to the Product Comparison page (see 2 below).

2 At the main Product Comparison page, product specifications will be displayed. You have options to Add [if you have 4 products in a comparison, you must remove one to add another. Change and Remove products from the product comparison using buttons below the product images. The Change and Add options will open a new menu containing other products from the same catalogue category any existing comparison products are in. Remove will delete the product from the comparison. You can use the Print this Page link at the bottom of the main window to print a copy of the comparison chart for future reference.

3 If you visit any other page outside of the product comparison feature and want to return to your current comparison table, click the Your Comparison List in the Quick Links menu section (left of window under Browse Categories).


Placing an Order

I've found my products, how do I order them?

To order products online, you will need to be registered on the axminster.co.uk site, see the Registration section of the help index for more information if you are not registered. You can either Sign In to your account before you start browsing for products (recommended) or during the Checkout process.

How do I add products to my basket?

From a product page:
a Under the description and image on all product pages there is a table containing an order code, short description, price and quantity box for each product line. Locate which product you require (product accessories/related items will usually be listed under the main product) and enter a value in the Quantity box (default = 1), if you require more than one, change the quantity and click the Add button.

b The product page refreshes with a 'the selected item has been added to your basket' message in red above its image.

c To add additional products to your basket, simply search for the products and repeat the steps above until you are finished, then see 'How can I view the contents of my basket' below.

OR

Using the Fast Track Order Form:
a If you already know the product order codes (found in our catalogue, supplements or adverts) for the products you wish to purchase, use the Fast Track Order Form link at the top of any page above the Shop By Brand menu.

b Enter up to 10 product codes and select a quantity for each (default = 1). Click the Check Codes/Add to Basket button. If product codes are recognised, a product name and price will be displayed. Invalid codes will display an error message - either correct these or remove them from the form. When you are happy with your selection, click the Check Codes/Add to Basket button for a second time - this will clear the form and add the products to your basket.

c To add more than 10 products to your basket via the Fast Track Order Form, repeat step b until you are finished, then see 'How can I view the contents of my basket' below.

How can I view the contents of my basket?

To view the products that have been added to your basket, click the 'Your Basket: x item(s)' link at the top of the page above the Shop By Brand menu. Each product title can be clicked to view the main product information page.

I would like to save the contents of my basket for future ordering, can I?

You can save baskets for later use - if you place similar orders on a regular basis this feature can save you creating a new basket each time you order. After saving a basket, it can be reloaded into the main basket to purchase.

a While at the main Your Basket page, you will have the Save Basket button option under the product listing (note: you must be logged in to your account to use this facility - see the Registration and Signing in to my account help section for more details). If you would like to move the current basket items to a saved basket for later use, click the Save Basket button.

b At the Save Your Basket page, enter a name for the basket ('consumables order' for example). At this stage, you also have the option to empty your current basket after saving it - if you choose this option, an overview page of your saved baskets will be displayed after clicking Save Basket. If you don't tick this option, the products will be saved and you will be returned to your main basket which will still contain the products ready for purchase.

How do I reload a Saved Basket?

You need to be logged in to your account (see the Registration and Signing in to my account help section for more details) and then click the your Basket link at the top right of any axminster.co.uk page.
Click the View Your Saved Baskets option. An overview of your saved baskets will be displayed with a variety of options:
- Reload: send the full contents of a particular saved basket to Your Basket ready for purchasing.
- Delete: remove a saved basket completely.
- Add: clicking Add next to products will move these individual products to Your Basket ready for purchasing. Single products can be added from any saved basket.

I've got incorrect products and/or quantities in my basket, how do I edit my basket?

Before continuing to the Checkout, you should check the contents of your basket carefully - products, quantities and pricing. To delete a product from your basket, click the Remove link left of the specific product image (the basket is reloaded). To edit a quantity, either use the up/down links or type in a value in the quantity column and click Update Quantities to refresh the basket with your changes applied.

How do I continue to the Checkout and complete my order?

When you have added your required products to the basket and have finished browsing, return to the Your Basket page by clicking the 'Your Basket: x item(s)' link at the top of any page above the Shop By Brand menu.

a Check the contents of your basket carefully, then click the Proceed to Checkout button. If you are already signed in to your account, you will be taken to the Choose Delivery Address page. If this is not the case, you will be required to sign in to your account at the Sign In/Register page (important note: if you had items in your basket on your previous visit before you signed out, these will be added to your basket automatically having been remembered from your previous visit. If you do not want these items, simply edit your basket.

b At the Choose Delivery Address page, either click Use This Address under an existing address (taken from your address book) or add an alternative address under the Enter a New Address section and click OK, Continue…

c The Payment Details page allows you to review your delivery and billing address details.

Select a delivery method and enter your debit/credit card details as required. Please make sure you read our Terms and Conditions and tick the I Agree box - you will not be able to place the order without accepting the T&Cs.

A summary of your basket is also provided below your details. You can still change the contents of your basket at this stage by clicking the Basket link below the Payment Details title and repeating the process detailed in question 6 of this section.

When you have checked your order, addresses and payment details, click the Order Now button to complete the order. You will be sent an email to confirm your order - complete with basket summary, order and customer references (you will need to quote these if you need to contact us). The order will be added to Your Previous Orders that can be found within your account.

Can I order products that state 'Currently Out of Stock'?

All out of stock products are available to order via the website, you will only be charged for these items when they are in stock and have been dispatched to you. If you order other in stock items on the same order, they will be dispatched as normal and you will be charged at that time - we do not hold orders until every item becomes available.

How do I find out when products are due in stock?

You can contact our Customer Services team directly to receive an indication of when we are expecting stock of an item.

How am I charged for Heavy Goods delivery?

Heavy Goods delivery is charged as part of your order, you will also be contacted by our transport manager to arrange a convenient delivery date.

A product states POA for delivery and 'Heavy Goods 3 (£0.00)' is displayed on the payment page during checkout, what does this mean?

For larger machinery, you will not be charged immediately if ordering via the website. Due to the nature of this machinery, we will contact you to discuss delivery, commissioning and installation costs.

A product has two prices, one in red and another in brackets: 'normally £x', what is this based on?

Products with price reduction offers are shown in this format. The price in red is the current price and the price in brackets is the normal Axminster catalogue price.

A product has a 'c/w FREE' flash, do I need to add the free item to my basket to get them?

You only need to add the product you require - any free items with that product will be included in your order when it is packed.


General queries

Can I request a printed catalogue?

Each axminster.co.uk page features a FREE Catalogue in the top menu bar - you will need to register with us or sign in to your account before ordering a catalogue (please see the Registration & signing in to my account help section for more information).

I would like to join the Axminster Email Club, how do I do this?

If you already have an axminster.co.uk account you can sign in and select the Edit My Details option from your account page and tick the 'I want to join the free email newsletter list' box. If you are not registered, you can either create an account and do the above or enter your name and address and click Subscribe at the bottom of any page. Alternatively, click here to go directly to the subscription page.

How do I unsubscribe from the Axminster Email Club?

If you already have an axminster.co.uk account you can sign in and select the Edit My Details option from your account page and un-tick the 'I want to join the free email newsletter list' box. If you do not have a registered account, you can click the Join our Email Club link on the homepage and enter your email address under the Unsubscribe option.

I have lost my original product manual, can you supply a replacement?

The Downloads link at the top of any page offers a selection of free, downloadable manuals in Adobe PDF format (requires Adobe Reader to view). Manuals are only available for Axminster and Perform products.

Can I buy Axminster gift vouchers?

Gift vouchers are not available to purchase online, you can however call our Telesales team to purchase them directly. See the Gift Vouchers article for more details.
