Henry Taylor Parting & Beading Tools
As their name implies these tools are mainly used for parting finished work from the waste. They do, however, have other uses like cutting deep grooves, or, with calipers, cutting a series of grooves to a specific diameter as when making tenons. Beading tools, generally made of square bar, are the ideal tool for flicking out beads. If you have any trouble making a bead with a skew chisel don't bother persevering, just pick up a beading tool. Beading tools can also be used for parting although being broader will waste more wood. Standard parting tools are rectangular in section, diamond are, as the name implies, diamond in cross section and, because of the side relief, more suitable for deep cuts.
