For slashing undergrowth, controlling hedgerows and more Hickory handle on large, leather handle on small slash hook Bill hook for layering hedges or splitting withies for hurdles
Slashing Hook
The bill hook (3) has always had several uses but is mainly utilised to layer hedges or to split withies for hurdles. The one offered here is a top quality tool from the same manufacturer as the axes found elsewhere in this section, and is approximately 12" long. Also similar in appearance, although larger and longer, are the slashing hooks (1 & 2) approximately 37" and 14" long respectively, used, as their name suggests, to slash away undergrowth, control rampant hedgerows and perhaps to remove the underbrush from around a tree before felling and then turning it into a Windsor chair using only a few hand tools chosen from this catalogue. The smaller of the two is finished with a comfortable leather handle, whereas hickory is used for the longer one. PLEASE NOTE - by purchasing any knife, you are confirming that you are AGED 18 or over.
