This cordless combi drill delivers outstanding performance. The all-metal construction of the gears and three speed gearbox ensure both extra high transmission of power and a long working life under high loads. The three speed ranges make for far greater efficiency under normal conditions and allow a wider range of applications. The third speed, the highest, is faster than many other cordless drill, and makes drilling small diameter holes a whole lot easier. However, where these drills really score is in the second and first gear range. These effectively straddle what is first gear for most other makes. The second gear gives a good speed for heavy duty drilling situations, a great combination of high torque and speed. The lower first gear has a slow speed with outrageous torque, and control over large fixings and large diameter drill bits. Makita have used the same well proven motor as in their previous range but have upgraded it with new rare earth magnets, increasing its operating efficiency. The rubberised comfort grip extends to cover the rear of the drill, giving extra protection against knocks. The units have auxiliary side handles, which we strongly advise using with such high torques. The tops of the drills feature a three position slider for changing mode and a three-position gear selector.
