Axminster BV30M Engineering Lathe

A larger version of our hugely popular BV20M lathe but, with 150mm centre height and 650mm between centres, rather more suitable for the small engineering or maintenance workshop than the model engineer. There is a choice of spindle speeds of (9) 75-1480rpm, controlled by two gear selector knobs conveniently positioned on the front panel and, unusually in a lathe in this price bracket, there is power feed available to the cross slide as well as the main saddle leadscrew. Motor reverse is achieved through an easily-accessible rocker switch. There is a full range of both metric and imperial thread cutting options with selection being achieved by a combination of four lever-selected leadscrew speeds and a set of steel changewheels. A knob on the front panel gives easy selection of reverse rotation of the leadscrew for cutting left-hand threads. The lathe comes supplied with a top quality three jaw self-centering chuck which bolts directly to a driving flange integral with the shaft. Also included are headstock and tailstock centres, a 20-piece change wheel set and a kit of tools. Available as extras are a four-jaw independent chuck, a choice of two faceplates, a travelling steady and a stand, all listed below. This lathe has a very full specification and represents excellent value for money for the serious home user or small engineering workshop.
