Formech 450
The Formech 450 is a floor standing machine with a large size forming area, making it ideal for schools, colleges and universities offering courses in art and design, model making, engineering and polymer research. Timer This built-in feature is a useful addition to the 450 in two ways. We are often asked "How do we know when the plastic is ready to be formed?" There is always a certain amount of trial and error in this part of the process, but a Timer fitted to the machine helps to make it easier, particularly when carrying out a series of formings using the same type and thickness of plastic. Decide how many seconds it takes to heat the first sheet. Set the timer for this amount of time. The next time the heater box is brought forward, the Timer is activated. Once the heating time has elapsed, a loud audible tone is emitted, at which point the machine operator pushes the heater box back and the rest of the cycle is completed. This is also a useful feature in a classroom environment where it can be easy for the machine operator to become distracted. With use of the Timer, the operator's attention is soon brought back to the machine on hearing the loud beep at the end of the heating cycle. Zone Controls The three zone controls incorporated into this machine offer the operator greater heating control and accuracy by allowing adjustments to be made to the heating thermostats. This helps when forming plastics which have a tendency to heat unevenly and also when forming difficult moulds, on which the plastic webs or creases. By reducing the heat emitted in specific zones (the problem areas), difficulties can often be overcome. Careful use of the zone controls can also help in making the machine more economical to run. When using a reducing window, heat is not required in the redundant parts of the forming area. The zone controls can be turned off in these areas, helping to reduce running costs. The 450 can be supplied with the two different sizes of reducing window; 150mm square or 300mm square, allowing for off-cuts to be used. Operating from a 13 amp supply, machine set-up is simple, making it ideal for an educational environment. Mould set-up and unload is carried out in a matter of seconds and any operator can be well versed with the machine's functions in the space of half an hour.
