Body clamps blade at constant angle Set screw adjusts blade curvature Two handles provide comfortable grip Double edged blade for fine and coarse work
Stanley No.80 Scraper
The body clamps the blade at a constant angle and a set screw adjusts the curvature of the blade to regulate the thickness of shaving. Two handles, similar to those on a spokeshave provide a comfortable grip and relieve strain and heat on the thumbs, a problem encountered when using traditional cabinet scrapers. The tool is used with the blade angled away from the worker and pushed. The blade has two edges - one flat for fine work and one slightly curved for coarse work or glue/paint/varnish removal. The blade is honed with a bevel of 45° and then the burr is raised. It will produce a fine shaving. When dust is produced it is time to rehone and reburr.
