Trend Airshield Pro
The Trend Airshield Pro is a fully protected powered respirator for use with all woodworking applications. Suitable for use when machining MDF. Approved to new standard BS EN 12941. Excellent protection for the face and lungs is achieved by several key features. Twin filters that are 98% efficient and stop the inhalation of harmful dust by giving a constant flow of filtered air across the face driven by a quiet running fan whilst the combination face-seal ensures no harmful dust enters the mask. Detachable ear muffs are also available as an accessory. Designed for comfort with an adjustable headband, the motor is positioned away from the sensitive area of the forehead to reduce noise and irritation in use and ensures that the unit is well balanced even when the polycarbonate visor is flipped up. The brow guard swings open and can be removed for easy access to the filters, fan and battery. Supplied complete with 8 hour battery, charger, pair of filters, visor overlay and airflow indicator. realistic review
"stop look now listen ok you may look a nob and its not perfect the ear defenders may not work 100% and it can make your neck ache a bit but lets be real your going to feel it .as a joiner working all day with hardwoods and making toxic clouds all day i would not be without my airshield.take 5 mins to set up the adjustable straps correctly and it will fit spot on and the ear defenders are good enough or get some ear plugs. how much do you value your eyes, ears and lungs .cant wear goggles with dust mask cos they fog so what do you wear ? worth every penny .buy one be healthy dont listen to the other bad reviews i didnt if u could see the colour of my fillters but still blowing clean air over my face for over 2 months heavy use."

bit heavy but great protection
"this should have the battery in a belt, I'll end up making it so, just too heavy on my head for long use

Heavy but worth every penny
"I have worked with wood all my life so understand the need for dust protection. However I am new to woodturning where dust is on another level altogether. I find the Airshield very effective with clean air in your face all the time. I suppose it has to be a bit on the heavy side but think of your health. "

"Takes some getting used to, don't bother with the ear defenders, they'll never line up with your ears rendering them useless.
On the plus side it is such an effective mask I wouldn't be with out it when routing. Don't be tempted to use without visor over lays as the mask will scratch when wiping clean.
over all not a bad purchase."

This can't be the best there is
"I find the eulogies to this product found in magazines incomprehensible. It is heavy, noisy and clumsy. The ear defenders are largely cosmetic unless your ears happen to fit under them. The fixings for the ear defenders pop out more often than not when adjusting and the number of blood blisters from pinched fingers in the support arms for the ear muffs is about the same as the number of times used. The first one delivered had to be returned with faulty stitching on the face surround and the headband padding fell off on the replacement product after a few weeks. It may filter dust effectively but the inconvenience and noisiness is a heavy price to pay - expense aside. The lamented Racal Airlite was comfortable enough to wear all day. So it can be done, and more cheaply. One is tempted to rip this one off one's head as soon as the possible if only to relive the noise and neck muscles."

Heavy on the Brain
"Whilst I am not able to work without my Airshield I am giving it a low rating since I woudl expect more from a mainstream company like this on an issue so important as breathing. Yes it helps me do my job and does protect me but it is stupidly heavy on the forhead. I also have qualms about having a LITHIUM package so close to my brain."

Perhaps I have an odd shaped head!
"I am a full time woodworker and have in the past used the Wurth facemask, which was very good but as they stopped manufacturing them and the filters, I was forced to find something else. Unfortunately, I found the Trend Airshield Pro very uncomfortable to use for periods longer than one hour. The weight of the mask bearing into ones forehead, making it unuseable. Although the head band is adjustable, if one slackened off the headband the mask would just slip over your eyes. Also the ear muffs did not sit closely over my ears giving me the feeling that they were not effective. I have since replaced the mask with a JSP ip pwercap which I am very pleased with and is cheaper."
