For easy flattening or resurfacing Japanese waterstones 150 grit Will never wear out in normal use
Ice Bear Ceramic Flattening Stone
Amongst the many advantages of sharpening tools with a Japanese waterstone is the ease of flattening or resurfacing of the stone. This gives the user the option of always sharpening on a flat surface, thus obtaining the very best results. Use this new 150 grit ceramic stone to regularly dress the stone. The hard ceramic particles and bond means it will never wear out in normal use. Keep one to hand and use frequently by just rubbing it with a circular motion across the top of the waterstone. 155 x 52 x 25mm.

"After reading the other reviews I wasn't too sure about this but i thought at the price i'd give it a go. My waterstone had got quite dished from use so flattening with sandpaper on glass was just too much work - this does the job in no time, used on a stone that isn't dry you get a lot of slurry and the two stones act on each other - the flattening stone loses some of it's initial roughness also. To me this does the job well enough and would recommend it."

Disappointing
"Poor quality, my Japanese stone is flatter !"

Not flat... but can go
"I had read previous opinions and I didn't expect a perfect product... I thought I could flatten it with sandpaper and than start with that.
No... you cannot, it's too hard and will wear sandpaper with no benefit to its flatness, it will only "dull" the stone.
On the other side MINE (not guaranteed others will...) has a couple of "islands" that are flat and rised compared to others, it will flatten a stone, it's a good start for finishing with sandpaper glued to a glass plate and it's a fraction of the price of good flattening stones.

Very Curvey!
"Mmmm, Mine is also bowed so how are you supposed to get a flat waterstone when this thing isn't flat to start with. Like the other posters I tried to flatten it, no joy.
Don't waste your money, buy good quality wet n' dry paper and find a flat surface. My kitch worktop turned out to be good enouyugh once I checked it with a straightedge. Suggest waiting until the other hlaf is out!"
