50 Popular Woodworking Projects
Some of the projects in this book are out of style, but the techniques of making them are not, with one exception; in the 1930s wood screws were not widely available so nails were commonly used. Screws are better. As with any good book, the ideas this one generates are as useful as the projects it details. Joseph Lukowitz was an industrial arts teacher and a master of self-sufficiency. He assumes people would rather make than buy items they need. This is a novel concept in today's world, but a welcome one. The satisfaction of using things you make yourself is an experience that can be enjoyed by anyone with a basic tool set.
