Clifton 420 Shoulder Plane

Made in Sheffield by Clico and based on the designs of Edward Preston, all Clifton planes are of top quality and machined to very fine tolerances. The 420 is a 200mm(8") long shoulder plane with a 19mm(3/4") wide cutter. The body is machined from quality grey iron, precisely ground on both base and sides and has a fine mouth. The lever arm is of unbreakable malleable iron. The cutter, of high quality tool steel hardened to Rockwell 59-61C, will take and hold a razor edge. The cutter is adjusted by means of a screw feed.
