Axminster Plus SD-15B Open Side Belt Sander

An industrial quality open sided wide belt sander of 760mm (380mm X 2), this machine has many features normally found on much larger machines and is suited to the smaller workshop where space may be at a premium. This has a high speed sanding belt driven around 3 rollers and fitted with a pneumatic belt oscillation system adjustable for speed and distance of swing. This gives a much longer belt service life and ensures a completely flat sanded surface. An air operated sanding belt tensioner is fitted and allows sanding belt changing in seconds without tools being required. Driven by a 5.2kW(415V) 3ph induction motor giving ample power and fitted with an emergency stop air pressure disc brake. The conveyor belt motor drive unit has 2 speeds, 4 and 5 metres per minute giving a further choice of finishes. The conveyor table is fitted with an infeed table which can be folded down when not needed, saving space., also an adjustable width side support table. A large hand wheel is provided to adjust the conveyor table to working thickness. All electrical controls are grouped together on one panel with clearly identified push buttons for each function. There is an ammeter fitted to allow monitoring of the power being drawn to prevent overworking of the machine. The sanding head offers 3 functions: With the platen above the rollers it functions as a contact roller sander for sizing with 40-80G belts. With the platen level with the rollers intermediate and finishing with 100-180G belts, and with the platen below the rollers ultra fine finishing or repairs to veneers and lacquers are possible with 180-240G belts, the micro adjuster giving settings down to 0.1mm. The whole machine is constructed within a compact, welded steel cabinet, large doors giving easy access to all parts of the machine for maintenance and adjustments.
