Clifton No. 4 1/2 Smoothing Plane
The No. 4.1/2 has increased blade width and body mass, useful when planing more difficult timbers and for covering ground more quickly when working on wide boards, table tops and panels. The 3mm(0.12") thickness of the cutter, coupled with the two piece cap iron, greatly increases rigidity and reduces the possibility of chatter. The lower section of the cap iron can be taken off, allowing the blade to be honed without loss of the setting. Fitted with wooden Bubinga handles and 2 piece cap iron.
