Brilliant

Having read reviews and learnt from others' mistakes in adjusting the device to match the thickness of the stock, this worked perfectly first time for me. Adjustment could be easier than having to turn a screw thread with fingers but that aside, beautifully designed and made. If you're going to make pens, get one, you'll recover the cost in saved blanks very soon.

Great item bad instructions

This item took a little while to set up, but once I figured how to set it up properly I no longer had to hold the handle to drill the blanks, now I would be lost with out it an amazing item for repetitive accurate drilling. Well done Axminster

Best Investment I have made in ages

Was drilling my blanks in my lathe before I bought this
& while it was fine for the small blanks with 7-8mm holes..I was struggling with the larger ones with 14.5 mm holes...kept cracking them cost me £££££

I had previously bough a Jet.bench drill from Axminster but could not use it for the blanks as it
Did not have enough travel in it..

With this clamped to it I can easily part drill..re-position the blank higher with one pull of the lever...
Well done guys...one happy bunny...

Needs improvement

A reasonable aid to pen making, although it could do with few design improvements, jaws could open wider, a locking mechanism to hold the jaws closed without having to hold pressure against the handle whilst drilling, counter-sunk holes drilled in the base to make it easier to secure to the drill table and a space below the jaws to place a piece of scrap to avoid break out. Although the points are negative I still continue to use everyday, although I have made my own modifications.

Good piece of kit

If you make pens then you will need one of these, very easy to set up and accurate every time.
