Designed to fit bench planes (No.4 and above), these large, comfortable rosewood handles will replace your broken or plastic handles. Supplied with a length of threaded studding (Sheffield plane thread), the only fettling you may need to do is to drill the toe screw hole if your plane requires it. A part drilled pilot hole has been provided on the underside as a guide.

Not bad at allI am restoring / upgrading a number of old Stanley and Record Bench Planes No4 up to No 8, new budget bench planes are simply rubbish and I can really only justify a couple of Cliftons in the sizes I use the most. Some of these old planes have broken / repaired handles so I cautiously purchased a single set of this replacement to try. Whilst you may get these to fit a No4 or No5, they are actually too big for those models (at least the ones I have). They are however perfect for Nos 4.5, 5.5, 6 - 8. You have to finish off drilling the hole in the toe, it is part drilled but you also have to counter bore down a little from the top so the standard screw will fit, this is a little tricky. I will now buy some more for the planes they fit and make my own for the No4 / No5 planes.

A thing of beautyMy 1960s Stanley No 4,bought when I was 14,was looking a bit scruffy, and I wondered if swapping handles might cause loss of authenticity. This Crown set is exquisite, and combined with a new blade assembly and general clean up,has turned my Stanley into a looker and performer to match anything from the top three.

Much better than a plastic toteThese are a worthy replacement for those awful plastic handles you find on new planes these days, although the varnish is rather plasticky.
