This is unique to Sjobergs and can be used in any dog hole for clamping on the bench surface or in the legs for clamping the ends of boards or doors etc held in the vice.

Why are these clamps so expensive? When you compare this Sjobergs clamp to the AXMINSTER TRADE F CLAMP, the 300mm version costs £18.96 -- they are more complex to make - so why on earth is the Sjobergs clamp twice as expensive - Axminster need to lean on their suppliers harder- we are not all millionaires!

Very well made but use only with deep benchesI bought a pair of these to use with a 20mm thick workbench top (non-Sjoberg) and as they work on friction from the 25mm hole, they didn't work very well as that depth of hole just doesn't provide enough purchase. I haven't tested it but I'd estimate that you'd need a 35mm deep workbench top. The part of the holdfast that is inserted into the bench top has a thread that looks like it can be attached with a nut, but having talked to Sjoberg, this is a non-standard thread size and is only there to help the friction action. I ended up knocking up a nylon under-bench collar and grub screw system to keep them in place, which works fine, but was an awful lot of effort. Once working though, you can see what a fine bit of kit they are, and they'll work seamlessly with Sjoberg benches (or any thick bench top) I'm sure.
