Our one day course provides an introduction to the original Leigh D4, D4R and the Leigh Super Jigs. This course is available to existing Leigh Jig owners and those considering the purchase of a Leigh Jig. The course will start with the initial setting up of the machines, students who purchase on the day will be able to set up and work on their own new jig during the course. Existing Leigh Jig owners will need to bring their own jig and routers with them.
Our one day Leigh jig course covers types of jig, safe routing principles and step by step setting up of your jig for through dovetails and half blind dovetails. A typical drawer/box construction is then undertaken using the two different jointing methods.
You will start your day with a welcome talk, including a hot drink, health and safety and a breakdown and review of the equipment you will be using.
The minimum age is 14 years old and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the course and must not be left unattended during class hours. If you would like to read our terms and conditions click here.
Great way to learn in a very friendly and informative environment
This course was a great introduction to door making and using the UJK Technology Router Table. I have attended several courses at Axminster, great way to learn in a very friendly and informative environment. Already booked another course for wood carving.Anon, Making Kitchen Doors & Jointing
I enjoyed the mix of instruction and practice, which was just right
I also appreciated how Jason gave me individual attention; helping me solve problems with my router and advising me on how to tackle routing tasks which were not covered in the course. The course was well thought out, was paced correctly and taught with humour. Jason was very knowledgeable and often gave tips which you would never get from a book and which solved a problem without having to buy more hardware.John S, Beginners Routing Course (2 day)
