Course Details

Level: Intermediate

Maximum four students are taught in a group during this course.

Duration: 2 Days

Course hours will run from 9:00am-5:00pm (including approx half an hour for lunch).

Interested in keeping bees as a hobby? Embark on your beekeeping journey with our Bee Hive Making course. The two day course will provide you with the know-how to enable you to make a 12”x14” British National hive from scratch, learn skills to progress further and give you confidence when using small machine tools.

What you will learn

Alongside a step-by-step guide to the making, your tutor will impart their skills and demonstrate techniques throughout. You will explore the equipment and materials needed to construct your beehive. Plus, you will look into timber preparation, jig making, jointing and finally delve into the construction.

Items you take home can change depending on the resources and materials available on the day.

Additional information

You will start your day with a welcome talk, including a hot drink, health and safety brief and a breakdown and review of the equipment you will be using.

This is a 'hands-on' course, each student being able to work at their own pace. The tutor will be able to demonstrate and explain the techniques to the group as a whole and individuals as required.

The minimum age is 14 years old and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the course and must not be left unattended during class hours. If you would like to read our terms and conditions click here.
