Cutting and machining of wood are major parts of the preparation for the modern woodworker. Our one day wood machining course aims to cover setting up and safe use of the machinery. Throughout the course, your tutor will pass on their skills, knowledge and experience within this area.
Your tutor will introduce you to the machines required to cut and machine your wood. Machines you will cover include the bandsaw, table saw and the planer thicknesser. You will have an in-depth look at the setting up of each machine as well as changing and resetting of cutting knives or blades. Having set up the machines, you will then be guided by your tutor into the safe use of each machine. You will have hands-on use of each practical area and we aim to send you home feeling more confident in your workshop.
You will start your day with a welcome talk, including a hot drink, health and safety brief and a breakdown of the machines you will be using.
No experience is needed.
The minimum age is 14 years old and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the course and must not be left unattended during class hours. If you would like to read our terms and conditions click here.
