Cutting and machining of wood are major parts of the preparation for the modern woodworker. Our two day wood machining course will look at the setting up and safe use of the machines included in the one day course plus two additional machines. With the extra day, your tutor will have more time to go into more detail when passing on their skills and knowledge.
Across the two days, your tutor will introduce you to the machines required to cut and machine your wood. Machines you will cover include the bandsaw, table saw, mitre saw, morticer and planer thicknesser. You will have an in-depth look at the setting up of each machine as well as changing and resetting of cutting knives or blades. Having set up the machines, you will then be guided through their safe use by your tutor. With hands-on use of each practical area and you will return home feeling more confident in your workshop.
You will start your day with a welcome talk, including a hot drink, health and safety brief and a breakdown of the machines you will be using.
