Arbortech Ball Gouge With David Edwards

Our in-store demonstrator, David Edwards, will be showing you the Arbortech Ball Gouge - a spherically shaped grinder attachment that can rapidly hollow small concave surfaces in woodworking projects. It is specifically designed to provide exceptional control, balance and performance in freehand wood shaping and carving.

This 30mm diameter ball-shaped cutter is ideal for carving smooth hollows in wooden spoons, small bowls and is useful for small to medium sculpting. The ball gouge features ‘anti-grab technology’, which helps prevent the tool from digging. It gently bounces out and when moved across a wooden surface, creating a chisel-like texture.

Why not come along and watch David demonstrating the advantages and benefits of this Arbortech tool?

Woodturning And Carving With Emma Cook AKA The Tiny Turner

Come and meet Emma Cook, also known as the Tiny Turner, demonstrating woodturning and carving.

Tiny Turner Emma has been involved with woodwork since the age of 16 when she was intrigued by and marveled at the creations her younger brother and her uncle were producing on their lathes.

Within a couple of years, Emma became a student of Tony Wilson, a seated woodturner. And through Tony, she started to be involved in various woodworking shows meeting many new people with all sorts of skills.

At the North of England Woodworking & Power Tool Show in 2008, Emma met Michael Painter - one of the few Master Carvers left in the UK. It was he who suggested she try carving.

After two years of sporadic lessons from Michael (while she was trying to complete a degree in Performance Design at Leeds University), he offered to train Emma professionally. And really, that is where she is at the moment… still working with Michael with the aim of becoming the next Master Carver in England.
