Not everyone wants to use a bench grinder when it comes to sharpening their chisels and plane irons. So, we would like to show you just how easy it is to get those repeat razor sharp angles on your blades by using the Veritas honing guide.
Why not join our deputy store manager Paula Webb in the High Wycombe store as she takes you through the easy setup and use of the Veritas honing guide together with Japanese waterstones.
Do you want to add some personal touches to your Christmas tree this year? Have you considered carving your own decorations? Home and handmade decorations are always more original than bought ones and give the maker a lot of job satisfaction.
Our in-store demonstrators Lydia Spracklen and Andre May will be in the High Wycombe store making carved decorations using the Axminster heavy duty flex drive with carving head and a selection of Flexcut chisels. If you fancy making some for your own tree this Christmas, join Lydia and Andre, and have a go at carving one.
Pen turning is always one of our favourite demonstrations at the High Wycombe store. At this time of year, turned pens make lovely gifts for Christmas.
Why not come and join our in-store demonstrator Talhah Rasool as he makes a variety of pens from both wood and acrylic blanks using the Axminster Trade Series Precision Pro lathe. There may even be the opportunity to get hands-on and have a go at turning one.
This year our in-store demonstrator Chris Kirk has decided not to buy gift tags for the presents he will be giving at Christmas. He is going to make his own personalised tags using the Antex Firewriter pyrography set. He knows that a personal gift tag will be so much more appreciated by the recipient.
Pyrography is becoming an increasingly popular hobby and Christmas time is a great opportunity to give a personal touch to those gifts. So, join Chris for this demonstration and maybe even have the chance to make your own personalised gift tag for a special person this Christmas.
Phil Irons is well known on both the UK and international woodturning scene.
He will be spending the day in store demonstrating tools from Woodcut, with whom he has a long association. His main focus will be on the Bowlsaver MAX3 - a tool which will enable you to get an increased output from a piece of wood. Phil will also be using Tru-Grind sharpening jigs and Pro-Forme hollowing tools.
By his own admission, Phil derives most pleasure and satisfaction from turning hollow forms. He has created some beautiful vases and incredible one-off masterpieces.
Phil also enjoys teaching and offers a number of courses at his workshop in Welford-on-Avon, Warwickshire. Courses range from beginners’ hobby level classes to the more advanced master classes on the lathe.
Pop in store anytime between 10-4pm and enjoy our FREE event!
