I've been using an Airshield Pro for a couple of years now, and despite the downsides I wouldn't be without it.

The shortcomings identified in other reviews are valid; it's fairly heavy, bulky, it can occasionally slip if you lean forward, the battery needs to be charged in-situ, and the clip on ear defenders aren't great.

However, as someone that's gotten quite sensitised to MDF dust, I find it absolutely indispensable. The full face nature (with positive pressure) means that you don't get irritation issues via your eyes (and your eyes and face have some protection from debris). It doesn't cause issues for glasses wearers like a half face mask (or fill with moisture due to breath condensing).

The battery lasts for hours - I've never actually had it die on me during a day's stint in the workshop; though the low battery warning alarm has sounded a couple of times.

An ideal redesign would be a belt mounted filter + battery + motor and a tube up to lighter/smaller helmet. However, for what it is right now I'm very happy with it.

I wish I'd bought one years earlier, but of course I wanted to spend money on tools instead. In terms of a value proposition; how much do you value your lungs?

I bought this hoping that its better-looking seal would make it more effective than the earlier model. Maybe it does, but I can't be sure. I do know that there are two serious disappointments with the new design. Firstly, because of the design you can't wear standard ear defenders so have to rely on the accessories 'designed' to go with it. I won't repeat here my review of those - you can read it for yourself.
The second disappointment is in the battery charging arrangements. The earlier model had a battery that could be charged without being in the helmet usig the supplied charger - which meant that one could be on charge while another was in use allowing for continuous use over many hours should that be required. The new design requires that the battery be charged in situ, unless you're prepared to pay through the nasal orifices for a separate charger that is not provided as standard. This may seem like a good money-making idea to Trend, but I hope it's going to lose them sales.

I recently bought this product and it was delivered without the battery pack. Axminster customer service sent me a new one, thanks for that.
After finally being able to use the airshield I had to notice that it is way to loud (ca. 70dB) and quite heavy, which is of course my subjective view.
What I find most annoying is the cold stream of air flowing down in front of my face, I think I cant stand it for some hours of work, nothing for people who easily suffer from sinusitis. I also have to mention for all customers outside U.K. that the product comes with a plug that wont fit the continental main supply, you will need an adapter (the one I bought was € 6,00). Unfortunately I cant say anything about the promised battery life, because I have not used it for more than half an hour and will spare it only for extremely dusty conditions. Hope this was helpful.
