In Detail

The UJK Technology Multifunction Workbench frame is made from high quality birch plywood, chosen for its strength and stability. The outer frame is 18mm thick with a phenolic face, with an inner box construction out of 12mm birch ply. This ensures that the top remains perfectly flat at all times. There is storage in the centre of the frame for dogs and other accessories. Cut-outs in the frame enable it to fit onto the Brennenstuhl trestles, forming a strong and steady workbench. The front and rear aprons have plenty of Twist Dog holes for aligning workpieces vertically and cut-outs offer accessibility for clamps. Overall, the frame measures 1,140mm x 750mm x 150mm, the storage recess is 275mm x 465mm x 120mm.

The UJK Technology Multifunction workbench top is 18mm thick Valchromat. It features a grid of 20mm plain dog holes: 11 holes by 7 holes. These holes are CNC machined to guarantee accuracy, aligned lengthways and widthways with the rows perfectly square to each other. These dog holes allow you to use Parf dogs and many other accessory clamps, guide rails and stops to hold, saw, rout and machine your work with spot-on accuracy.

The kit includes a pair of Brennenstuhl trestles made from strong 25mm square steel tube. They fold almost flat saving space, when not in use, making transportation easy. These are vertically adjustable between 800mm and 1,300mm high for the most convenient working height. The splayed legs make a very stable workbench.

Included in the kit is a pair of UJK Technology Twist Dogs. The Twist Dog’s unique feature is a pin through the spigot. This pin securely locks the Twist Dog into the specially drilled Twist Dog holes in the front and on the top of the workbench. Made from hard acetate plastic (the same material as shatterproof chisel handles), these dogs will not damage cutting edges in the case of accidental contact. The upper portion is a precise 25mm diameter. Twist Dogs use the alignment of the UJK Multifunction holes to set up fences, guide rails or workpieces.

Great concept but let down by the trestles.

Just bought the last in stock of the screw dog version with the trestles. I love the fact that it can be transported or tucked away if space is at a premium. I also admire the engineering and accuracy of the cutting. It's quite a piece of work so it's disappointing to realise, with all that technology & accuracy, the work surface is so snug, it needs a kick or a mallet to release it from the bench. That's not really a big problem as I assume the accuracy of the dog holes would be compromised were it loose, but it renders the 'drawer' irrelevant. My big gripe is the support. The trestles are dreadful and simply not man enough for the job. They are flimsy, difficult to position such that all 8 feet are on the floor at the same time, and they bend at the slightest force. I know I ought to return them but until I build the wooden bench they are going to be necessary.
On the plus side, I realised that using hand cramps at odd angles is pretty much what I have been doing for years, so this bench lets than happen really very well. A second solid top will be a real bonus for flat, delicate work like picture framing & mount cutting. I can even cut my own marine ply top & customise it. That's a great feature.
I would like to have been able to leave unreserved praise here, it is after all, a superbly engineered top, almost a piece of art in fact. Sadly, the tressles are a piece of s....

Genious concept, a few downsides.

I love the concept of the workbench, it has made my amateur woodworking easier.

I don't like the trestles. You can't lift the table to move it in one go. There are 8 legs to touch the floor and if you need to move the table by pushing it you will have to adjust the trestles afterwards so that all the eight legs touches the floor again. The legs also meet the floor with an angle, and the pointy edges make marks into my soft wooden floor. I'm building at permanent bench stand at the moment, and that will replace the trestles. Would have been better off buying the bench without the trestles (that explains my three stars on value).

The quality of the frame and top is superb. I still had to plane off half a millimeter from the top long side to make it fit into the frame. The storage compartment under the top is not very practical. You have to clear the table to get access. Also it restricts where you can position your clamps.

Wow, what can I say, top tackle. I fancied one of these as soon as I saw it and what a fantastic bit of kit it is.
Being a carpenter based in the Lake District I find myself having to take my mobile workshop to some pretty random far-flung places, this table enables me to create perfect joints, machine cuts and a stable workplace all on site.
Can't recommend Enough. Ace.

Just bought one...

Only received this today but have spent most of it working on it...
Firstly, it does what it says on the tin - a very sturdy and accurate piece of kit. However, it is not totlly perfect and I was disappointed to find that to fit the top took a great deal of effort and quite a bit of brute force to get it to seat properly. Not what is implied in the video, giving "easy access" to the space underneath for storage but maybe that is because mine is brand new... This does, of course, explain why it is so precise and accurate.

Its precision though is superb and I'm looking forward to working with it.

Axminster packaged it superbly and DPD delivered it in factory condition. Small point Guys... it didn't come with the promised plan for the permanent base.
