Description

In Detail

These 6mm hex SlimBits fit into either the Wiha slimVario handle or the Wiha slimTorque VDE bit holder. The design of the SlimBit ensures safe and secure working once locked into one of the handles. These blades are much slimmer than standard VDE screwdrivers without compromising the level of insulation. This allows you to reach screw heads lying below a surface or in a recess, as often encountered on electrical panels. They are high grade chrome-vanadium steel, through hardened with a black finish. Direct moulding of the insulation onto the blade ensures maximum protection. Each blade undergoes individual testing to 10,000V. Manufactured to IEC 60900: 2004 standard, for working up to 1,000V VDE and GS tested.

What does VDE mean?

VDE is a standard to ensure screwdrivers and other hand tools are safe to use when working with electricity. VDE takes its acronym from the German company Verband der Elektrotechnik, who are responsible for testing and certifying tools and appliances.

Wiha Screwdriver

VDE has become the recognised standard within the building trade throughout Europe. Seeing the VDE trademark on a pair of pliers or a screwdriver gives the user the assurance that it’s safe to use with electricity. Wherever you see the VDE mark you will often find a voltage limit, this indicates what voltage levels the tool is safe to work with.

Jig kit

Not just any tool can bear the VDE certification mark. All VDE rated tools are put through very rigorous testing to ensure the quality, construction, safety and even the ergonomics meet with the protective requirements of the applicable EC Directive.
