In Detail

This carving and shaping blade will give excellent results when used on a 115mm angle grinder (22mm bore). Being a little heavier than similar products and well balanced with five tungsten carbide cutting tips, the blade is very smooth in use with a controllable cutting action. The blade is 100mm diameter and the cutting tips are 6.8mm wide with a rounded profile. If you need to remove a lot of material quickly when carving or sculpting this blade will take some beating. N.B. It is important that protective equipment and adequate guarding should be used when using this type of blade.

I bought this to hollow out an oak log. It worked even better than I could have hoped for. Make sure you wear all your PPE as it is very aggressive but also can be finessed to leave a very good smooth surface. Good value for money

Just purchased this to use alongside a Saburr tooth carbide disc. The Axcaliber cutter achieves an impressive rate of material removal and is fairly easy to control. The saburr tooth is slower but it's easier to get a smoother finish so I use that next. Between the two I had a great time but be warned you need protective kit and they make an horrendous mess - but it's well worth it

Best in it's class

I used this beauty to carve a 7ft x 2.5 ft Eucalyptus stump over 3 days. It stayed sharp and cutting throughout. I have also used Arbortech cutters - the standard blade would have needed sharpening very hour or so and been more or less worn out by the end. I guess you could go for the Arbortech Industrial but you can buy 3 of these cutters for the price of an Arbortech. Also this cutter does not react to different grain direction like the Arbortech Standard blade - non of that hair-raising grab - and has two more teeth than the Industrial so cuts faster. Do invest in a trade or industrial rated angle-grinder if you intend using it for extended periods - a DIY job will just not do it. Also you really must heed the advice about protective gear - this blade removes material at a fierce rate and you will get sand-blasted without it. All in all the best value and best performing cutter I have found.

Great Purchase

I bought this in June 2011, and it has had serious use since then for carving bowls and troughs - brilliant!. Well balanced, fast cutting, and easy to control. The only slight niggle is the lack of instructions on how best to re-sharpen the cutters when they become blunt.

A little wonder

I purchased this cutter and used it to grind down a 3 inch high tree stump to enable me to run the lawnmower over it. This blade easily succeded where other tools had proved in eficient. Although it has now earnt it's cost, I am sure that it will prove a valuable addition to my tool kit in the future.
