Description

In Detail

For many years, Axminster has produced a standard carbon steel bandsaw blade and it’s been the ‘blade of choice’ for many users, especially so when upgrading from the original (which may often be of inferior quality) supplied with their machine.

‘Standard blades’ are best described as general purpose and are fit for all those normal tasks in the workshop where a smooth, good quality, ‘no fuss’ performance is required, day in and day out.

Axcaliber Standard Blades are economical to purchase, being available in a huge array of lengths, blade widths and tooth configurations. As well as Axminster bandsaws, they’re suitable for virtually all machines from different manufactures currently available or even some of those that are no longer in production.

Very pleased

Since buying my Metabo 261 bandsaw two years ago, I have never been happy resawing expensive hardwood without blade drift. I had decided that I should have purchased a larger saw if I wanted to resaw and I was only using this little saw for curved cuts. This has now changed after buying a 1/2" x 4 tpi blade from Axminster. After setting-up the saw and using a single point guide, I have, over the last two months, been able to achieve good results resawing 90mm softwood and 75mm beech. Needless to say, I am very pleased with this blade.

Overall great blades

I often buy these blades for my bandsaw and I'm always happy with the quality of the product and the fast delivery of axminster. Even cutting through thick slabs of exotic hardwoods doesn't blunt the blade, Great blades and at great prices

Good blades cut well but not as good as the premium blades

Although this is a good blade it's not as good as the premium blades, you can see the different in quality and also the same size blade provided a nicer cut finish on the more expensive blade. In my opinion it's worth paying a few pounds more for the premium blade

New blade = new saw!

My Clarke Woodworker bandsaw had never cut straight even with new Clarke blades (well documented phenomenon!).
After reading lots of advice to try a new good quality blade rather than muck around with blade tension (which is pretty poor on the Clarke anyway) I decided to try a 1/2" x 4TPI Axcaliber blade for my project using recycled 6x2 joists.
It now cuts as straight as an arrow, the blade will wander if you feed with a lot of pressure but keep it sensible and it works like a dream.
Truly after fitting the blade it was like I was using a different saw!
Will have to buy some more in different widths and TPIs now!

Glad I tried this blabe

I tried this blade to see if it really was a smooth cut and it was. I am glad I tried, as I do a lot of veneering and was having trouble with a non Axminster blade and the other blade getting choked. No problem to the super smooth.
Well done Axminster I will definitely be buying more.
