In Detail

Premium saw blades use M42 high-speed steel with 8% Cobalt which has been welded to a spring steel alloy backing. This results in a material that has a far greater resistance to heat and abrasion, allowing improved cutting performance in those materials that might have proved troublesome with a 'standard' blade. Many types of material can be cut with ease, all metals including hard steels when the blade is fitted to a slow running metal cutting bandsaw, or all timbers including abrasive timbers such as teak as well as man-made boards like mdf and chipboard when using a higher blade speed on a wood cutting bandsaw. M42 blades are so resilient that reclaimed timber presents no difficulties, as the blade will slice easily through the odd nail buried under the surface. N.B. Due to the possibility of stress fracture we do not recommend the use of these blades on wood cutting bandsaws with a wheel diameter of less than 12” (305mm). Blades are available in 1/2" x 6-10tpi & 10-14tpi, 3/4" x 4-6tpi & 10-14tpi.

Quality blade

Required new blade to replace one on my recent Kity purchase. I thought to get this blade although quite expensive. I have only tried basic cuts but performs very well. Excellent delivery service by Axminster.

Good, but not that good!

Having to cut long length man-made boards (chipboard plinths) and being fed up of low blade life I tried one on these. I cut approximately 15 metres of 15mm gloss slab material effortlessly (better/faster than the normal Axcalibers) and then almost immediately the blade dulled. Normally I can get this life from a standard blade so paying over double doesn't 'cut it' if you excuse the pun. I may as well use semi-disposable standard blades on a cost basis. I am sure that when cutting standard materials these blades will exceed standard blades by a large margin but we bought this as it was described in the catalogue as having a life not affected by cutting man-made boards which unfortunately is not the case. I am going to try the Ground Tooth version next and will let you know. Do they do such a thing as carbide tipped bandsaw blade??

Worth the extra money

I have been using 'standard' blades for some time now, but the last blade I bought was so thin that I had trouble making any straight and true cuts. The blade just seemed to follow the grain however much I re-tensioned it and adjusted the guides. My instinct is that they're being made out of thinner and ever thinner steel.
So I bit the bullet and invested in one of these Premium blades. No regrets at all. The blade does what and goes where it's told and no more hand paring to make tenons square and true. Well worth the extra money as it simply, saves time and money. And lasts longer than the standard blades.

Long Lasting

These blades are lasting me about 4-5 times longer than the cheaper blades. I wasn’t sure at first if the extra expense was worth the money, but i will never buy any other blade again. They say “In this world, you get what you pay for,” this quote is very true.

This is the best blade I have bought for my saw. It cuts extremely well giving a good finish. Well worth the extra expense.
