This workbench provides enough space for two people to work together at the same time. Made from slow grown European beech and birch, it is extremely robust. Its construction uses 2x 40mm thick slabs of laminated beech, each measuring 1,800mm x 250mm. A central shallow recess of 330mm width runs along the full length. This gives a bench size of 1,800 x 830mm. There is the provision to add a 180mm (7") York woodworking vice to each side, two vice mounting kits are included. The frame is made from 80mm square legs and 90 x 40mm braces, firmly bolted together to form a rigid frame; two birch ply panels create a 1,340 x 705mm shelf within the legs, supported on the braces. Easy to assemble, this is reminiscent of a traditional school woodworking bench brought up-to-date. No vices are included with this bench, they are available as an optional extra. Please note: Axminster recommends sealing the bench with two or three coats of finishing varnish on the top, underside and dog holes. This treatment should be maintained from time to time.
