In Detail

These clamps are reliable and effective, you can never have enough. Their box joint design ensures both strength and correct alignment of the jaws. A spring-loaded pawl engages onto a toothed steel bar as the handles are squeezed together giving positive non-slip clamping with a clamping force 392 N. Simply pressing the lever between the handles releases the clamp. The handles have non-slip moulded inserts to increase grip and the shape makes them easy to squeeze. The jaw pads have a cross-vee to clamp round or irregular pieces. The pads swivel for even contact even when clamping non-parallel surfaces.

oddball clamping but very handy for gluing

i bought these clamps on special offer otherwise i'd have been a bit clamped off with the clamping pressure, which isnt great. However before i exiled these to the top shelf i had a quick glue up to do and low and behold these clamps came into their own! The lack of clamping force is actually a positive when it comes to gluing as the clamps hold fast and firm without squeezing all the glue out which can inadvertently happen with g clamps.
The build quality is good with very little side play. They are made from ABS plastic with quality steel ratchet system. The clamping pads articulate with rugged faces with a V groove cross for dowel/bar clamping.
So my advice is, get some anyway for those awkward one handed glue jobs.

Really useful - but not exactly 'power' hand clamps.

*** Wow - superfast delivery! Ordered less than 24 hours ago. Excellent! ***

Useful shape - deep throat depth: 65mm at 100mm width (max). Up to 90mm depth on thinner materials.
Convenient - easy to use with one hand.
Efficient - much faster than g-clamps and f-clamps.
Inexpensive - excellent value for money.
Maximum pressure 15 - 20kg. This is because the jaws are longer than the handles. So even if you have a powerful grip the 'law of the lever' (Archimedes) causes a smaller pressure to be applied to the jaws. It's a bit like holding a pair of pliers the wrong way round. (don't know how Axminster achieve 35kg. Comparable f-clamps easily exceed 60kg and g-clamps go off the scale).
So occasionally I'll have to use my more powerful alternatives.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase and anticipate a lot of use from these clamps.

Great clamps at a great price

I'm just setting up my workshop so have only bought a few f/g cramps so far. Saw this package deal and thought they were worth a try. and am glad I bought them. I've found them to be very easy to use when I have to hold down a long piece of wood on my very short temporary bench (workmate style). I can set one clamp then let go and set up more clamps as needed. My bench tends to move before the work piece does.
