In Detail

This engine crane has a maximum weight capacity of 2,000kg but can also lift 500kg with the jib extended fully. The outrigger arms can easily be folded for transport or storage in the workshop. There are six cast steel castors to allow easy mobility. The lifting range is 25-2,000mm so an engine can be lifted clear out of the engine bay with little effort. The widely splayed outrigger arms will allow this crane to be used to lift machines or other heavy items around the workshop. Well built and nicely designed, this crane is an excellent piece of equipment for the workshop or warehouse.

Good, but welding flakey

The spot welding on the extension legs on mine was poor, I had to grind off some blobs and add a couple of spot welds where they were missing.
Other than that, good bit of kit - much bigger and more solid than the photo suggests.

Good and solid.

Have been using one of these as an engine hoist for the past three year. In general it does what it should. However there are just a few minor things that could be corrected. The beam locating pin is a bolt which would be better served with a solid pin and R clip as used on the legs. The hydraulic pump could be a dual stroke rather than single as it take a lot of strokes to get it into a typical start position. The chain fixing to the boom could be improved. Overall its a pretty good hoist for the price.

Way better than I expected

Putting together a new workshop with some heavy kit I looked into renting this sort of tool only to find that with delivery/collection and the rest I could buy this of Administer for the same price as a weeks hire. So I did not expect much, but I thought if it only lasts a few lifts it will save me a few pounds. That it was not listed as heavy delivery service added to the cheap, lightweight and cheerful perception.

Couldn't have been more wrong. The normal courier delivery is because it comes in two very heavy boxes. The build quality is very impressive, more than solid enough to confidently lift large heavy machines with no concerns at all. The wheel work very well and make light work of moving even the heaviest load. The only minor niggle is that the 'stays' that keep the legs in the up position would be better welded on or at least with a strip of steel welded to the box section and the paint tends to flake off at the slightest provocation. But other than that this is easily worth the money and will last I suspect for years. In fact it is as far as I can see as good as the ones the hire companies will charge the same to deliver/collect and rent for a week.
Maybe I should hire mine out. ;-)
