Poor quality, but useful to have just in case

In my set, the 15mm I used first was OK, and I assumed the others would be similar. Sadly, the next I used - 20mm - cut reluctantly, quickly started to overheat, and left a much deeper groove round the outside of the hole than it should have done. On close inspection, I found all the cutting edges were rough and in places dull, and the grind geometry was poor, with the straight flutes unevenly ground and further above the rim than they should be (hence the groove and some of the overheating). Examining the others - all unused - I found the smaller sizes looked more or less reasonable, but the cutting edges on the larger ones were like the 20mm, or worse: rough, generally blunt, burred in a few places, and with variable but generally crude grind geometry. Most are clearly incapable of clean work out of the box, especially in hardwoods. I haven't used any of them enough to judge the quality of the steel. Overall quality is clearly very variable, and perhaps I was unlucky, but it shouldn't be necessary to get to work with diamond hones to clean up new Forstner bits before using them, whatever the price.

Can't beat for the price

I've bought lots of forstner drills in the past, also some that were a lot more expensive. And by looking at these, they look exactly like the more expensive ones i've bought. Same finish, same grinding angles etc. and they cut just as good. I wouldn't be surprised if they were manufactored at the same facility as the more expensive ones. Just goes by another brand. Can highly recommend these for the price of just over £3 per. piece!
