In Detail

Featherboards are a great accessory for the safe and efficient use of router tables, circular saws and spindle moulders. The Axminster arched featherboard offers increased functionality for the machining of wider boards and is well suited for use on a router table set-up. This clever robust design also acts as an efficient guard during use and has a natural tendency to pull the material towards the fence. Dimensions are 260 x 115 x 60mm and the vertical slots are 238mm between centres.

Great idea

The idea is brilliant, it reaches two objectives, pressing down when using a wider board and with a bit all exposed and also serves as a guard, also for "flying chips".
Built quality is good not excellent. It's larger than expected.

Nice featherboard

Badly Described

What a pity that this item is not described adequately on the web site. I had assumed that the 'arch' was in the vertical plane as implied by the photograph. It is in both the vertical and horizontal planes and, for me, is useless. It is, however, well made.

A bit of balance

This is a very good arched featherboard. I use several of them. It is substantially made and does the job it is designed for perfectly. It distributes the featherboard tension over a wider area of the workpiece helping to apply an even pressure on the jobs where that is useful. The fact that itcan be made to cover a cutter head is, at least some of the time, another advantage as it improves guarding. You might be better off with a standard featherboard in some situations but not in others. If its the right thing for what you want you won't find a better one.

Arched finger board

The unit projects from the face of the guide fence by 60 mm. For routing narrow lengths it is unusable. OK for skirting boards and barge boards etc. Also the cutter is completely hidden behind the fingers. Better off with a standard finger board. Note of caution , I should have payed more attention to the photos and less of a hurry.
