I had to fix it 10+ years ago, and will now replace the chuck.

I bought this over a decade ago and have been using it ever since. It has made an 'undersized for my needs' morticer into a useful pillar drill.
However, from day one the chuck has been very stiff to operate despite lubrication. It has finally died with one jaw no longer mobile and graunching noises when the chuck key is turned. I am now trying to find a replacement chuck.

So why am I not buying a whole new adaptor kit?
Well, my one worked for about a week before it seized solid in the brass collar despite lubrication. With a lot of work I managed to extract it and found that it was so tight a fit that in use it warmed up, couldn't expand outwards, and so squeezed onto the shaft. After I separated them I reamed it out with a sensible clearance, and made it true again. It worked and has been working ever since. It would be a shame to replace it to find the same issues and to have to repeat the reaming process, or have faulty spares I don't need.
Unless it is now better made?

Very good accessory

I have been using this for well over a year now. The morticer has had more use as use as a drill stand than as a morticer. It is essential to lubricate the guide bush as with any other brass bushes and it has proved to be accurate with all sorts of materials. An excellent accessory which more than justifies the cost of the morticer.

Too Soft

Having purchased these before i had little faith with previous models lasting a few months. unfortunately this skewed literally on day 1. constructing a new table and fence I'm positive the work was square and minimal depth with a 12 mm forstner bit, almost immediately the vibration began and checking the adaptor was central and the collet was secure i continued needing to apply lubricant to the shaft which stopped the vibration. on my 10th hole the work was beginning to rotate when i applied the bit and then the work was hitting the fence and it was plain to see the shaft was no longer straight and the collet had jammed and cut a groove in the steel.

never had many expectations but expected a little more than what i got
