In Detail

This bandsaw blade guide set is a complete set for the HBS350N bandsaw, but can easily be fitted to many bandsaws of Far Eastern origin with little if any mechanical modification to the bandsaw. These guides feature micro adjusters for the top guides and full ball bearing support for the blade. Perfect to upgrade your bandsaw, or to replace worn out guides. Easy to set, these can only enhance the cutting performance of your older bandsaw.

Fits Elecktra Beckum BAS 315 - eventually..

The guides on my EB BAS 315 band saw gave way during fettling, hadn't really noticed before how low quality they were and finally the cast 'spelter' construction just failed. Mercy dash to my local Axminster store came up with this solution but I did have a bit of trouble fitting as I had to figure it out for myself. Note to APT, some basic 'how this fits' would not go amiss as it's fundamentally different to the standard BAS 315 solution.
Initially I thought it would fit the current guide 'foot' at the end of the vertical ali sliding arm. It does kinda fit but the location and spacing is way off to be able to perform the blade guide function. Much head scratching and plotting of packing pieces etc then a chance discovery on line of another after market guide that revealed the slot should should be fixed with a T bolt to the ali vertical arm, aha!! - really need pix for this hence the 'please add instructions' comment to APT! Not sure if I can add pix here, will try..
Original fitting was a bit of a mare to remove but finally the 2 self tappers released the original mounting 'foot' - threw that away. Unfortunately the guide kit doesn't come with a T bolt for the ali extrusion slot but fortunately I had something almost suitable to hand and having taps and dies I could extend the threading on a spare T bolt from the router table jigs. Bit long but bolt end subsequently hack sawed off. With this Eureka moment the top guide was fitted and fettled.
Now for the lower guide which needed some holes drilled into the band saw body as the holes don't align with the original (not unexpected) and with not much room around the lower wheel some nimble fingers needed to tighten fixing bolts (or take the lower wheel out?). Slightly over sized holes allowed a bit of jiggling to align to the blade run. All in all fairly easy once you know how to do it! Set clearance, nipped up all bolts and fired up. What a revelation! Very pleased that I was forced to do this mod as I hadn't realised how rubbish the original blade guide set up was. As you can see, not a hard core band saw user so no prior experience to go by. Pretty inexpensive upgrade too. I spent a 3-4 hrs and that includes a 1 hr-ish dash to/from APT to collect. Should take much less doing an install as opposed to all my pondering, plotting and wrong directions. Over all v pleased, only drop it a star due to no clues included (a piccy would do) on how to fit plus extra fittings required but not supplied list . Sorry, can't see a way of adding photos of installed item. Hope this review helps, would thoroughly recommend for a BAS 315.
