Axminster Loves

Axminster Loves

Here at Axminster, it happens a lot, we fall in love with our favourite tools.

Praising their power, complementing their calibre and applauding their accuracy; but, over time this love can extend to 10, 15, maybe 20 tools! This July, we've attempted the impossible. We've asked some of our Axminster team members to narrow it down to just one tool and tell us what they like most about them.

UJK Technology Router Table

UJK Technology Router Table

I've been using tools since gaining my City & Guilds in Cabinet Making in the early 1990s. I find the UJK Router Table is a very versatile piece of equipment. It's so easy to use from carrying out straight edge moldings in seconds to simply removing the fence and adjusting it to produce intricate curved detailing. It can be used with lots of useful accessories such as the coping sled and feather boards to ensure safe working. It's a nice sturdy construction yet easy to move around the workshop. Flexcut Drawknife

Flexcut Drawknife

It feels so comfortable in the hand and is so easy to use. I make cricket bats outside of work and the flex in this drawknife's blade is ideal for shaping them! Joe (Warehouse)
Arbortech Ball Gouge

Arbortech Ball Gouge

Arbortech has a multitude of varied attachments/products for your powered wood carving needs. My favourite attachment has to be the Ball Gouge. Simply attach to your angle grinder spindle and away you go. Because of its ball design, you can carve in any direction, hollow out and undercut due to how the blade is angled. Two of its best features are the self sharpening blade and its anti-grab technology, making it long lasting and safe, but most importantly, fun to use! Chris (Retail Administration)
Proxxon 56 Piece Industrial Socket Set

Proxxon 56 Piece Industrial Socket Set

I spend a lot of time outside of work in my workshop. Whether it's fixing cars or maintaining my quad bike, the Proxxon Socket Sets are great tools to have at hand for all sorts of jobs. They're strong, durable and great value for money! Suzie (Servicing)
Axminster Microcrystalline Restoration Wax

Axminster Microcrystalline Restoration Wax

I frequently use the Microcrystalline wax for a variety of projects I have on the go at any one time, including restoring classic cars, vintage slot machines and more! I am a huge fan of this product and was more than pleased to help develop our very own top quality microcrystalline wax. Also being a "detectorist" (metal detecting), I use the wax on many items I find, especially items made of bronze, copper and brass. Don't laugh but I even use microcrystalline wax to clean and protect my Crocs! Darren (Product Development)
Antex Fire Writer Pyrography Kit

Antex Fire Writer Pyrography Kit

The Antex Firewriter is a very well built and robust pyrography unit. The pen feels comfortable in your hand and can deal with the heat you need for burning patterns and designs into timber. The variable temperature gives me the scope to be able to produce the lightest of burns to heavy texturing. Ben (Skill Centre)
Bosch 12V (2.0Ah) FlexiClick Drill Driver Set

Bosch 12V (2.0Ah) FlexiClick Drill Driver Set

I owned my first cordless back in the late 80's and there were far fewer to choose from, now it seems there are just too many variations! However, for me this one stands out from the crowd because it can do so much more. By simply changing the driving head this tool can be a real problem solver for those difficult to reach places; powerful and compact it's just simply a great addition to my tool kit!
