Accuracy vs cost

I bought this square many months ago and although the materials used are of good quality, it wasnt square!
After a longer than im willing to admit amout of time, i finally realised what was wrong. The stock ( brass I beam ), isnt actually flat on its refference edges. I dont know how that has happened, but it renders the 'square' useless as it can rock against the work piece.
If it was square or close i dont think you could get better quality for the money but unfortunately (for this square atleast) it is difinately not worth the money
