The Rider mallet is a classic carpenter’s tool made from straight-grained, selected beechwood. Beechwood’s resilience, density and resistance to splitting make it the perfect choice. A metal hammer can impart too great a shock to the tool’s cutting edge causing chipping and damage to the top of the tool handle.
The angled striking faces of the Rider mallet ensure each blow is square onto target, commonly the top of a chisel handle. The handle and head connection is a tapered mortice, in use; swinging the mallet automatically tightens the head on the handle. The Rider mallet has a generous handle making it comfortable to hold and use.
Beechwood carpenter's mallets by their nature have multiple uses: the gentle persuasion into snuggly fitting joints and driving dowels as well chiselling.
Striking faces 50mm x 80mm, handle length 325mm.
