With a 50mm wide blade, it is a good size and weight for finishing and final smoothing for almost all projects. It is a great general-purpose plane for the tradesperson, hobbyist or keen home user. The No. 4 makes a good first plane purchase for those new to woodworking. Developed for trade use but with the discerning home user also in mind, this special edition plane would make a perfect gift for the seasoned woodworker.

This Rider No. 4 has many excellent features. The main casting is ductile iron chosen for its high strength and impact resistance. The cap is stainless steel with a solid brass thumb screw adjuster.
