This 1m rule comes in the form of a 55mm diameter by 25mm tall cylinder. It is a convenient size for storing in the top of a toolbox or pocket. When unrolled it turns into a rigid 1m rule; when you are finished, just roll it up and put it back in your pocket. This 1m length of thin spring steel has a concave/convex cross section, which becomes stiff when straightened. When bent the cross section flattens allowing you to roll it back up, in fact, it almost rolls back on itself.
It has large, easy-to-read figures with metric graduations on both sides. With the convex side up, it makes a good straight edge for drawing a pencil line. Being thinner than a standard 1m rule, it allows you to make marks without worrying about parallax errors.
