Poor design

I purchased this Power feed unit with my Sieg SX3 Mill, whilst the Sieg Mill is very well made and finished this power feed unit is neither well made nor well finished.
I have had two of them and both of them failed for different reasons.
The design is poor as is the construction of the unit a re=design is needed here.
Having said this Axminster customer service has been excellent over this matter and I now have a refund.
This is the first time in many years dealing with them that I have had a serious problem with an item.
I shall retro fit a Align brand power feed unit to my machine, a bit of work but will be well worth it.
It is rather sad that Sieg have got it so wrong this time.

X3 power feed

After much faffing about I managed to get the power feed to work correctly. The instructions that came with it are very poor. They consist of 4 pages of poor translation, 2 pages of which kust inform you that 3 sizes of stops are supplied. No mounting instructions are included. I found out how to install it via google. The case has to be removed to access the mounting holes, when this is done it springs badly and trying to realign them is very awkward. Initially it would only work at full speed, this was due to a connector coming loose every time I put the case back on (the motor fills most of the case, the lead was barely long enough to fit round it). Eventually I had to superglue the loose connector together. Now it's up and running I'll have to wait and see how reliable it will be, control at lower feed speeds is a bit coarse but smooth enough.

X3 power feed for X1

I adapted this power feed to fit the X1. It is out of proportion but works very well, and I can recommend it.
