The bars are extremely rigid aluminium extrusions. Both clamping heads slide along the bar independently. A spring-loaded latch on each head engages into notches on the bar. The latch locks the heads in place, making the clamp very easy to position on the work. By reversing the movable jaw, the clamp can spread a workpiece apart. Each jaw has a rubber lining to protect your work.

not squareThese feel solid at first, but the heads are not square to the body resulting in very poor and unevenly distributed clamping pressure. Also, after about a year of use the springs have gone in the adjustable tail

Very poorThise are nice and solid but both ends are nowhere near square to the bar, the sliding end is a long way out. They get slightly better under load but still never get properly square to spread the load. For lightly pinching something they are completely useless. Also the clamp screw is very short so there is little scope for pulling a joint in without resetting the clamp several times. Buy something better.
