In Detail

These general duty steel squares have hardened steel blades securely riveted onto a steel stock. Although intended primarily for sheet metal work use they are also very popular with cabinet makers who have a need for a square which will hold its accuracy over a long period of time. Unlike conventional joiner's squares they are accurate on both the inside and outside edges. Their realistic price and good level of accuracy make them exceptional value for money.

Canny little gizmo

Having leant a block plane and 3” square to a mate who was trimming a door I got the plane back in a shocking state and the square didn’t return at all. Won’t make that mistake again! I bought one of these to replace it and bought a 2” square in error. A happy accident though as it turns out it’s a really handy size for all manner of task. You really can’t accurately scribe a line on thin stock using a 6” square and the handiness of this wee square prompts me to check for square more frequently when edge jointing simply because it’s so simple. Mine is perfectly square of both faces. Happy customer.

Not at all square!!!

After being on back-order for 5 months my 450mm long engineer's "square" arrived today only to find that it is at least 0.5 degrees out of square. Very disappointed given the usual quality of Axminster products. Would have given it a zero star rating but sadly reviews have to be submitted with at least 1 star...
