In Detail

The combination of a Festool circular saw and the Festool Guide Rail creates a superb system for cutting sheet materials. The guide rails have two PTFE strips embedded into them to allow the tool to slide smoothly on the rail. On the underside of the rail there are two neoprene strips which hug the surface of the material, reducing slippage. There is also a special rubber strip on the underside which is used to minimise splintering on the top surface of the board. This strip is cut by the saw blade on the first cut and thereafter supports the upper face of the material whilst it is being cut.

NB 2.7m and 3m guide rails not available for international delivery.

Brilliant piece of kit

When I bought my first rail I had doubts about its usefulness but being a Festool fan and seeing that so many tradesmen have this thing I went ahead. I was not disappointed.
I have a long rail (2 meters I think) and a 1meter rail and the one with holes in it for use with the Festool system to place holes for shelves in cupboards. I also have the connection adapter to join two rails together and the special clamps to fasten the rail onto the workpiece.

With the above kit I can easily cut very large sheets of chipboard, MDF, Plywood EXACTLY to size without the need of a vertical panel saw. When I am away from my shop I find the ability to saw accurately with this kit is impressive.

I also use the rails with the OF1010 router for making razor sharp cuts into long veneered panels which I then attach solid hardwood (usually oak) edges to.

You can also use the rail with the Festool jigsaw with its adapter but the normal saw is a better bet. I highly rate this system and note that other companies have subsequently brought out similar products.
