In Detail

Festool 3 Year Warranty (Registration Required)

This package contains a TS55R saw, 2 x 1,400mm guide rails, 2 x rail connectors, pair of screw clamps and padded rail bag

The Festool TS55R is a very fast and efficient plunge saw with many features. When used with Festool's guide rail system you can process sheet materials of all types with ease and accuracy. The rail in many cases does not need to be clamped to the work. The saw has a 1,200W soft start motor with full electronic control to keep speed constant and monitor the motor allowing the optimum cutting speed for the material being cut, regardless of load. The clear window on the side allows you to see the blade, and markers indicate front and rear cutting points of blade at full depth - useful when cutting out apertures with the guide rail. The cutline stays constant in relation to the base, regardless of blade angle. This saw has the ability to cut a standard 12mm against a wall thanks to its flush housing. There is a fine adjuster for the plunge and the blade now has an undercut of -1° to 47° for even greater accuracy and an adjustable viewing window ensures you can see the saw blade during use. The spring-loaded pivoting plunge action combines with a super-fast blade brake to give fast, accurate and, above all, safe cutting performance. Other features include a rotating dust outlet for the most convenient position and FastFix blade changing system. The guide rails have a splinter guard, underside cushion strip to grip work and a slideway top surface lining.

Supplied with 2 x 1,400mm guide rails with anti-splinter guard, 2 x rail connectors, 2 x screw clamps and rail bag. The saw has a 48T TCT blade and anti-splinter device and is supplied in a T-LOC Systainer case.

Superb plunge cut saw.

I have never liked circular saws as they tend to be inaccurate, difficult to use and potentially very dangerous. Having seen some online reviews I finally decided that I would get the TS 55 R and I have to say that it has none of the above faults. It is very easy and safe to use, the cut is superb and the settings scales are very accurate, not just decorative additions as found on low budget models. Combined with the rails straight accurate cuts are easy, I only wish I had bought this years ago. As others have remarked, Festool gear is not the cheapest but you never regret buying it.
