Description

In Detail

FISCH Wave Cutter Forstner Bits have been seriously engineered. The bits are forged, before being CNC ground and then hardened meaning; accuracy and sharpness are a premium. The unique 'Wave' cutter design has many benefits compared to a more traditional Forstner. The serrated 'Wave' edge generates considerably less heat and allows cutting speeds to be increased with less effort needed to achieve each hole. Metric sizes have 8mm shanks up to 30mm diameter and 10mm shanks there after. All have an overall length of 90mm. Made in Austria. For the best results, use in a pillar drill.

One of the top brands

When it comes to Forstner bits I have a clear preferred manufacturer and that's Colt. I can't repeat enough how impressed I am with the sheer quality of those. But Fisch comes in a really close second. These bits are, like the former, a clear and definitely huge step up from the mainstream bits you can buy. Whilst some of those, like Axcaliber's, are good enough for occasional work, when it comes down to accuracy, clean cuts and repeated use Colt and Fisch are there at the top of the line for me. The beauty about Fisch is that it's markedly cheaper than Colt, especially in the bigger diameters.
I needed 26mm and 38mm bits to make paint racks for miniature painting bottles. Drilled many dozens of holes and they're really awesome. Never a slip, always clear cuts. Highly recommended !

Fisch wave cutter forstner

I am making an Astro-observatory chair with white oak. I needed to cut a number of 19mm holes, read up on the Fisch wave cutter and got it from Axminster as no other outlet appeared to have them. Slow speed hole drilling was amazing. Holes are very smooth and with no burning or fraying. As I had to also drill only x2 25mm holes I opted for the cheaper Armeg wood beaver. This drill bit stalled and hacked at both slow and fast speeds. You have probably guessed that I got the Fisch wave cutter in 25mm size. No hacking or sticking.
I am not a handyman or wood worker but a retired G.P. The clean precise cutting of the Fisch wave cutter on this very hard white oak was very impressive especially given the high cost of that material.
A very pleased impressed buyer.

Treat yourself!

I don't often do fine woodworking, so for years I've been working with 5-for-tenner cutters from my local hardware shop. Just bought in two Fisch cutters for a job and been blown away! Cutting in hardwood is fast and crisp, even without a pilot hole. Cutter produces shavings not dust, and doesn't scorch.
Total revelation - buy with confidence!

You only get what you pay for !

My 40mm Fisch Wave arrived today. Couldn't wait to get in the workshop and compare it with my current ( well known Japanese make ) 40mm cutter, that cost a third of the price. The Fisch wave is brilliant by comparison; cuts a nice crisp clean hole cuts with ease, producing chippings rather than sawdust; didn't burn the wood and didn't heat up to the same degree as it's Japanese counterpart. Really pleased with the Fisch wave and it just proves that cheap can be false economy.

Great bits

I've only used these Fisch forstners with hard woods and they are so nice to use. Literally glides through the wood effortlessly and the hole they leave is so clean and crisp. A total joy to use, get one, get one now! ☺
