In Detail

This is a 2-in-1 folding rule with a big difference, having a digital readout of the angles. Measure both the angle and length at the same time with a clear display and bold markings in both metric and imperial on the rules. The rules are made from corrosion resistant stainless steel. The battery life is around 200 hours and is protected by auto shut down after 6 minutes. They have a clever auto-start of the digital read out, this will switch on as soon as you open the rule, saving time and fumbling for a button. A serious tool for any carpentry or setting out task.

A disappointment

With poorer eyesight than I might like, angle measurement with an old fashioned protractor style gauge was becoming a lengthy process and this not only suggested but proved to be a form of salvation, for a month or two. The greatest problems are firstly when switched off, any movement of the blades causes it to switch back on, thereby reducing battery life. Secondly it uses a rather fragile electronic readout which 'smashed' when falling about 2feet onto my garage floor. I have several digital tools and most have fallen from my workbench to the floor several times without harm.
Sadly without the readout it is pretty useless for angle measuring although it still has some value in transferring angles from rod to job. Sadly a good idea spoiled by lack of thought and built to a price.

Was promising but badly made

This worked well when I first got it but a couple of months after purchase it started to only work when the battery was pushed partially in. When properly seated the battery causes the screen to only display part of the number, making it unreadable. In cold weather the screen also does not display properly, a real problem when the workspace I use is unheated. Now 2 years later this is now just a glorified ruler as the unit no longer switches on at all. I'm not impressed. It also went through a lot of batteries in it's life. I think I'll stick to analog protractors in future, much more reliable.

Good idea but...

This was very useful when I was building an extension to my shed but the battery life is very short. I've tried two new batteries and it doesn't work at all. Another example of cheap Chinese rubbish?
